Mission-minded Spotlight: TrueLeap

By Liza Vilnits | Founder & CEO

Welcome to the October edition of ✨“Mission-minded: Building for Tomorrow" ✨

.............

According to UNICEF, two-thirds of the world’s school-age children have no internet access at home. While children may receive the help they need at school, they still need the proper access at home to continue their studies. TrueLeap is aiming to address those gaps by closing the digital divide in education. They are a digital e-learning platform that integrates a learning management system (LMS), a content management system (CMS), and a content marketplace for educational support.
😱 1) Why care? In the world we live in, devices are all around us. If children are not taught how to integrate digital learning into their education, they could fall behind their peers. According to eSchool News, blended learning - online learning as part of in-person schooling - can complement the student experience. That experience should be seamless from school back to home and vice versa.

🔥 2) What makes the co. credible? TrueLeap targets schools in emerging markets and operates in the United States, India, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Earlier this year, they closed a pre-seed round of $610K to increase accessibility to education. They’ve most recently expanded to Ghana where they are working on bringing education to student’s mobile devices, helping educators with LMS and CMS support, and providing these tools cost-effectively for both students and educators. They’ve also announced that TrueLeap is a finalist in the Startup of the Year category for InnovationMap ‘s 2024 Houston Innovation Awards.

💓 3) What I love about their story? Dr. Sunny Zhang and Sandip Bordoloi, Ph.D founded TrueLeap with the vision to give global students access to quality education. According to Dr. Zhang, TrueLeap was not just born out of a passion for teaching, but from witnessing firsthand how students struggle with outdated learning systems. Dr. Zhang and Sandip Bordoloi have decades of experience in academia and with their combined experiences, they’re making a global vision a reality - something that is no easy feat!

Access to education shouldn’t be a privilege, it’s a necessity. We need to ensure future generations get the education they deserve and can continue to prosper and companies like TrueLeap will make that happen - kudos, and thank you!

In case you missed it, ✨“Mission-minded: Building for tomorrow" ✨is a monthly series where I highlight an under-the-radar founder or company that’s building something that has the power to enact real change in our world.
