Strategy
COVID-19 had a drastic impact on higher education — budgets decreased, institutions merged and closed, and students felt lasting impacts in ways that spanned technology access to mental health. The Sorenson Impact Institute, an academic think-and-do tank at the University of Utah that’s focused on solving social problems through data and innovation, sought to bring high-quality data and historically marginalized voices to decision-makers in order to elevate the inequities in higher education.
During a moment in history that centered our education systems, we announced the MAPS data dashboard, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to drive higher ed decision makers to a credible industry-wide resource that could help increase equity. We spotlighted key findings, used data visuals and also pointed to authentic and powerful, often troubling, student stories.
Results
Our brief project engagement resulted in 1.1M potential impressions, primarily in education trade media like University Business, Campus Technology and EdSurge. We also secured a spotlight on ABC4’s Good Morning Utah show which included an interview with the client as well as visuals that showcased the dashboard.
Liza was the utmost professional - warm, proactive, and experienced. Even when our main product was delayed, she still found creative ways to secure press attention and helps solidify our own narrative. I would highly recommend Liza to any mission-based organization that cares about quality and results.
